Interesting characters!

In my book "Schooled", there is a boy who comes in to a new school and gets picked on and has to run for class president. The thing I really like about this book is the way the setting. They go from different points of views of the characters. The main characters and not the main characters.

I like the way they switch it because it's very original and makes the book a lot more interesting. It really effects the whole story because you know what other people think and what rumors and other things are spread in the school. After each chapter, the characters switch and after it says the chapter number (ex. Chapter 5), it says the characters name that is telling the story (Ex. Capricorn Anderson). I think that Gordan Korman made the story very creative because of it.

New Books and main characters

For Christmas, I got three new books and I'm going to say all the main characters for those books, and a little information about them. In "Kidnapped #2", Meg Falconer gets kidnapped and tries to escape. Her brother, Aiden, tries to find Meg and keep her safe from harm before the kidnappers kill her. Meg Falconer is a young 11 year old girl who was a fugitive for almost a year with her brother.

In "Schooled", Capricorn Anderson is a young boy who is basically a hippie living in modern days. He lives in a community called the Garland Farm with his Grandma who homeschools him. Even though he is very educated, he knows absolutely nothing about the outside world. Cap (Capricorn's nickname) has an afro and wears tie-die shirts just like a hippie.

In "Born to Rock", Leo McMurphy was living a normal life. He was in a lot of high school clubs, and had a scholarship to Harvard. Leo soon finds out that he is the son of a famous rockstar named King Maggot. But, he didn't know that until he was 13! So he gets mad at his mom for not telling him. Leo's whole life gets changed because of the situation.

Gordon Korman

Gordon Korman (left) is a famous author who has written over 60 books. He is my favourite author and I have read about 22 of his books. Some of those books include "The Kidnapped" Series, The "On the Run" Series, "The Sixth Grade Nickname Game" and "The Island" Series. You might have noticed something about 75% of those titles, and that is that they were series. Gordan Korman writes a lot of series and not so much just indivdual books. I think that he writes a lot of series books because he writes books so well that people don't want to put them down, and after the book is over they'll put the book down. But, if they buy the whole series, he would make more money because after they finish that one book they could just pick up the next one, so they'll spend more money.

I like his style of writing because he writes about all of the topics that I love (ex. hockey, action/adventure). I also like how in every book I have read, he has said at least one thing about Niagara Falls, and I find that pretty amazing considering he is from Montreal, Quebec. One more thing that I like about Gordan Korman is that he uses some large words that I don't understand in one paragraph, and then he would use small words in the next to mix it up a little bit. That is why Gordan Korman is my favourite author.

Meg Falconer

Margaret Falconer is the brother to Aiden Falconer who I did a readers blog about on the 2nd of December. Meg is about twelve years old and is a created character on the series "On the Run" and the series "Kidnapped". Meg used to need her brother (Aiden) to guide her through things, but now she is very strong and can guide herself through things. She has changed a lot since she has been on the run, and that is why I think she is a lot stronger now. I think Meg is incredibly brave now and intelligent because in the last "On the Run" book, she stood up for what she thought was right and after hiding from the cops for a extraordinarily long time, Meg left her brother and turned herself into the police and it ended up working in the end.

I'm going to predict the next couple of books in the "Kidnapped" series. I have read the first of three books in the "Kidnapped" series and so far the basic thing that has happened is that the Falconers try to live a normal life, but suddenly Meg gets kidnapped and the Falconers, police, and FBI all try to find Meg Falconer. Her is what I will think happen in the second book, I think that Meg's captors will leave another message to the police telling the police to leave 5 million dollars ($) somewhere and the captors will let Meg free. But, after the police leave the money, the kidnappers will hire or force someone to get the money and the police will try to capture the person and find Meg. But, the hired/forced person will run away and hide the money somewhere, but the police will follow and then kill him and the police will think that they have the money, but really the kidnappers will find the hiding place and get the money.

My Goal!

I have a goal every year for reading books. Last year, I wanted to read 20 books before the school year ended. This year I have a goal, too. But, this years goal is a little harder than last years goal because this year instead of reading only 20 books, I'm going to try to read 25 books. I think I'm growing up and becoming a faster reader so I need more of a challenge.I'm reading a couple of books right now at home and at school. I think that if I read more than one book at a time I can have a variety of choices and I can finish a lot of books, a lot faster. The books I'm reading right now are called "Tomorrow, When the War Began", "Kidnapped #1:Abandoned", and "The Secrets of Droon #20:The Ice Caves of Krog". I love all my books that I'm reading right now except for the book called "Tomorrow, When the War Began". I have finished one book this year called "On the Run #6:Hunting the Hunter". Only 24 books to go!

Aiden Falconer

Aiden Falconer is a star character in the 6 "On the Run" books and, so far, the first "Kidnapped" book, but probably in time the rest of the series in "Kidnapped". Aiden and his sister Margaret Falconer both get in a tough situation when their parents (John, and Louise Falconer) are imprisoned because of aiding foreign terrorists, but Aiden and Meg don't think that their parent s are guilty, so they try to free their parents. But, the only problem is that the whole country is looking for them and a killer that will never give up. Also, Aiden and Meg don't even know if their parents are innocent, so all of the series could be a huge waste.

I find that Aiden is a very strong leader because he never gave up and he always led his sister around and showed her the way to go. I also found that Aiden had a lot of potential in what he did because if I were Aiden I probably wouldn't have done all of that running around and not evening knowing if all that he was doing was going to work. Aiden was a very smart boy, too because at times where he could of done what everyone else was going to do he didn't and did the wiser thing that most people wouldn't have even thought of. For example, when he went to the Juvenile Corrections Facility he didn't say his actual name and said his name was Eagler because the whole thing with his parents just had happened so everyone in the Facility would think as him as a bad guy and instead people thought of him as an okay guy. I would like to be Aiden in some ways but in most ways I wouldn't. The ways I would, would be because he is a strong, intellectual human being who is also a great leader. A reason that I wouldn't like to be him is because he is in a very hard position in his life and I would feel really bad for him if he was real.

Homer

Homer is a character in the book "Tomorrow, When the War Began" who starts off as a bully or a kid that couldn't be trusted. But, later on in the book he takes on a leadership role in a difficult situation. Homer was a completely changed man once the war started and I think that he changed because school and being a children isn't very serious but when the war started he thought it was very serious and decided that life wasn't just a big game and a joke. I think that the author wrote it like that because I think that maybe the author was kind of a bully when he was young, but now he knows that it wasn't right and he changed his life because of that and he is now very kind and nice. The author's name is John Marsden and he is a great author but I don't really like his style.

Homer is an outrageous kind of guy that would always try to crash a party. He was in Grade 8 at his school and always got detention for doing things that a normal bully would do. He lives down the road from Ellie, and they were friends and used to go to each others houses. Homer was from a family that didn't care about his future and his family wasn't a very nice family. It was a hard life that Homer lived in and I think that is why Homer isn't a very nice kid and a bully.
